With the Defensive Player of the Year win, Cleveland Cavaliers forward-center Mobley could reportedly take away a whopping $269 million from his upcoming contract.
The 2024-25 Kia NBA Defensive Player of the Year, also known as the Hakeem Olajuwon Trophy, went to Mobley for the first time. Evan is a four-year NBA veteran and has now become the first player ever to bag this award for the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Before bagging this award, there were concerns that Green could directly have a $45 million impact on Mobley with respect to subsequent contracts. This is mostly due to a sudden and massive PR push by Green to garner votes. For Mobley, winning this award was rather important considering his contract implications, but Green was indeed a tough opponent in this case.
