Update (5:15 p.m. EDT): As per radio traffic, Springs Fire has now crossed Via Del Lago. An Evacuation Shelter has been set up at Valley View High School located at 13135 Nason St in Moreno Valley. An animal shelter has been set up at San Jacinto Animal Shelter: 581 S. Grand Ave. San Jacinto. The blaze has burned approximately1,500 acres.

Update (4:35 p.m. EDT): According to Incident Command, the Springs Fire in Moreno Valley has grown to approximately 1,500 acres and could potentially expand to 5,000 acres. The fire is currently moving across the flats of Lake Perris toward the northwest.
There is a potential immediate threat to structures in the area of Via Del Lago and Moreno Beach, with conditions possibly affecting the area within 20 minutes.

Update (4 p.m. EDT): The Springs Fire that broke out Friday in Moreno Valley, California, has grown to approximately 1,000 acres and has moved upslope into brush, according to Incident Command.
Evacuation Orders have been officially issued for the following zones: MOE-0507, MOE-0641, MOE-0747, RVC-0748, and RVC-0826.
An Evacuation Warning has been requested for Zone MOE-0639.

Initial report (3 p.m. EDT): A vegetation fire dubbed the “Springs Fire” is currently burning in Moreno Valley, California.
What we know so far
According to Cal Fire, the blaze was reported around 11 a.m. on Friday along Gilman Springs Road in Moreno Valley.
Incident Command says the blaze has grown to approximately 50 acres and could expand to as much as 1,000 acres. Fueled by winds, the fire has already crossed Gilman Springs Road.
Multiple fire crews are on scene working to contain the blaze. Smoke is visible from Riverside, Perris and Beaumont.
The fire remains active, with no containment reported so far.
Evacuation updates
Incident Command has requested evacuation orders for zones RVC-0826, RVC-0748 and MOE-0507.
Evacuation warnings have also been issued for zones MOE-0504, MOE-0505, MOE-0641, MOE-0640 and RVC-0825.

According to ABC7, Gilman Springs Road is closed from Alessandro Road to Bridge Street.

Residents have taken to social media to post images and updates as the fire spreads.
One resident wrote on Facebook, “We have a wildfire headed toward lake paris. Pretty bad heads up!!”
Another added, "I see it from Beaumont Ave."
