Video game designer Vince Zampella, the architect of Infinity Studio and Activision's Call of Duty games, died in a car crash in Los Angeles on Sunday (December 21) afternoon.
Zampella's vehicle struck a concrete barrier on Sunday afternoon and caught fire. While a passenger was ejected, Zampella, who was driving, died after being trapped in the flames. He was 55.
Zampella is survived by his wife Brigitte, and their three children together.

He was at the center of a lawsuit with the Call of Duty distributer, Activision, over denied bonuses and royalties from Call of Duty titles. {{/usCountry}}NBC10 Los Angeles reported that Zampella's Ferrari crashed on the scenic road along the San Gabriel Mountains, north of Los Angeles, at around 12:30 p.m. on Sunday. While Zampella, who was driving the Ferrari, died from the car fire, the passenger, who was ejected, died at the hospital, California Highway Patrol said.
It was not immediately clear what led to the crash on Sunday. The cause behind the single car crash remains under investigation.
