In the fifth instalment of our Celebrity Lifestyle Series, get to know the children of top Bollywood and television actors. From chilled out infants to savvy teens, these are pretty colourful personalities.

Taimur, Misha, AbRam, Suhana, Jhanvi... these star kids no longer need their parents’ names for people to know who they are. Their ages vary — some are infants just a few months old; some are pre-teens; some are young adults on the verge of starting their career — but what they have in common is a natural charisma and charm (is it their genes?) that keeps them in the limelight.

With top actors from Bollywood and television as their celebrity parents, these kids already enjoy a star status and attract about as much media attention as their parents do. Their holidays, parties, planned film debut, and whatever else they do makes headlines. The parents have different strategies for handling this. While some stars prefer not to share pictures of their kids publicly, others go all out on social networks, letting their kids get used to the media glare.

Kareena Kapoor Khan and Saif Ali Khan

Born on December 20, 2016, the apple-cheeked Taimur Ali Khan Pataudi, son of actor couple Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan, is one of the cutest babies in Bollywood. Although Kareena and Saif are yet to officially post a picture of Taimur, the six-month-old has often been clicked accompanying Kareena.

Besides Taimur, Saif has two more children — Sara Ali Khan (24) and Ibrahim Ali Khan (15) — from his first marriage with actor Amrita Singh.

The formerly plump Sara has now achieved some fitness goals with her new toned self. In May last year, Sara graduated from Columbia University in New York, US. All set to make her Bollywood debut, Sara is rumoured to be paired opposite Sushant Singh Rajput in Abhishek Kapoor’s Kedarnath.

Ibrahim went to Dhirubhai Ambani International School, Mumbai, and was actively involved in sports. He has already made his Bollywood debut... as a child actor in Saif’s film Tashan (2008), where he played the younger version of Saif’s character. Reportedly, Ibrahim is close friends with Akshay Kumar’s son Aarav. In a recent interview, Saif has spoken about how Ibrahim had been approached for an ad campaign.

Madhuri Dixit Nene and Sriram Madhav Nene

Bollywood’s dancing diva, actor Madhuri Dixit, has two sons — Raayan Nene (12) and Arin Nene (14) — and both are studying in Oberoi International School in Goregaon, Mumbai. Both of Madhuri’s sons were born in Denver, US. She had shifted base after she got married, and later moved back to Mumbai in the middle of the academic session in 2011. As per reports, Madhuri took quite a while to finalise schools for her boys and she consulted other celebrity parents to take a call.

Actor Shahid Kapoor and wife Mira Rajput were blessed with a baby girl, Misha, on August 26, 2016. The infant is indeed her daddy’s princess; he loves to post pictures with his baby on social media. Misha often gets clicked with mommy Mira as well, whenever they’re travelling. Talking about how she is protective as a mother, Mira said in an interview, “It bothers [me] sometimes when it gets too much or the paps come too close, especially with Misha, when there are so many flashes. She’s a small baby and her eyes are a still little sensitive, and it is something that we like to monitor. One doesn’t want to hide their child from the world, but it’s the flash that one is concerned about.”

Sridevi and Boney Kapoor

Veteran actor Sridevi and filmmaker Boney Kapoor have two daughters — Jhanvi Kapoor (20) and Khushi Kapoor (16) — and both went to Dhirubhai Ambani International School, Mumbai. While Jhanvi is set to make her Bollywood debut in Karan Johar’s Student of the Year 2, she has been in the limelight for sometime now, which has often bothered her mother. “I’m concerned about my children being so much in the media. I would’ve been happy if Jhanvi would all of a sudden star in a movie. Now, she is already in the media. But yes, the times have changed, so you better accept it,” Sridevi told us earlier. Reportedly, Jhanvi will take an acting course from an institute in California, US. As for Khushi’s career choices, mum Sridevi said, “Khushi says she wants to get into modelling. Pehle (earlier), she wanted to become a doctor. Phir (then) doctor se lawyer and now it’s modelling. So, I am waiting for the shock to happen.”

Actor Tusshar Kapoor became a single father when his son Lakkshya was born through a surrogate mother on June 1, 2016. An adorable baby, Lakkshya often gets clicked with his grandfather, veteran actor Jeetendra, and his aunt, serial and film producer Ekta Kapoor. Last month, a grand party was thrown for Lakkshya. It was attended by bigwigs from Bollywood, and Kareena Kapoor Khan’s son Taimur was seen bonding with the one-year-old. While Tusshar often takes to Instagram to post Lakkshya’s pictures, he admits that he wasn’t comfortable doing that initially. “I never wanted to keep him away from the limelight. I was just scared back then. But now that he’s one year old, I will share [photos] henceforth. I don’t even like to display everything, because some things are too precious. Some things are very private and some things you can share with the world. It should be that way,” the actor was quoted as saying.

In 1995, at the age of 21, actor Raveena Tandon adopted two girls — Pooja and Chhaya. While the elder one, Pooja, is now an event manager, Chayya is an air hostess. Raveena also has two children with her husband, distributor Anil Thadani — they are daughter Rasha (11) and son Ranbirvardhan (8). Talking about what her kids wish to do once they grow up, Raveena once said in an interview, “My kids are [too young] to think about films and their interest area. I have kept my kids away from the overexposure (to the glamour world) that other kids are getting and becoming celebrities on social media much before they become teens. Actor Shilpa Shetty Kundra and her husband, businessman Raj Kundra, have a five-year-old son, Viaan. From cooking together to playing together, the couple loves to spend quality time with their son and share their family pictures on Instagram. “He knows it’s weird that people are constantly around us, but I am not sure he is old enough to know I am an actress. Viaan is a very possessive child. When people walk up to us for pictures, he vehemently says no. My son is my bodyguard now,” Shilpa said in an interview.

Actor Shah Rukh Khan and wife Gauri have three children — sons Aryan (19) and AbRam (4), and daughter Suhana (17). Aryan graduated from Sevenoaks School, London, in 2016 and had his family by his side at the graduation ceremony. Back in Mumbai, he is now rumoured to be preparing for his Bollywood debut. “Aryan talks about his ambitions, and where he’d like to be one day. He’s very clear that way. He just wants to be bigger than me and that’s cool,” SRK once said. Suhana went to Dhirubhai Ambani International School, Mumbai, and is now at London University. Talking about her future plans, Shah Rukh said, “Suhana wants to be an actress. I see that zeal in her. She’s extremely good on stage; I’ve seen her performances. She’s admittedly a cinema fan and wants to be in the industry.”

Shah Rukh’s youngest child, AbRam, was born through surrogacy in 2013. AbRam is often spotted with his dad at Indian Premier League matches and their airport pictures also get everyone talking. “AbRam is extremely protective of me. There are times [when] he watches somebody hit me on screen and he thinks it’s for real. So, the next time he meets them, he gives them dirty looks. Otherwise, he’s a total chiller. Unlike Suhana and Aryan, he is more people friendly. He gets happy seeing my fans,” Shah Rukh said in an interview.

Aamir Khan has three children — Ira (20) and Junaid (25), with ex-wife Reena Dutta, and son Azad Rao Khan with wife Kiran Rao. While Junaid is at present studying theatre and has assisted filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani in the film PK (2014), Ira has assisted music composer Ram Sampath. Talking about his children’s plans to join films, Aamir said, “Of course, I will help them. If I feel they have the talent and are deserving, I will surely help them. If not deserving, then I will tell them they aren’t deserving.” Azad Rao Khan was conceived through surrogacy in 2011. “It is such a joy to have a child in your life. It is something that really changes your life,” Aamir had said in an earlier interview.

One of Bollywood’s most stylish couples, actors Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna have two children — son Aarav (14) and daughter Nitara (4). Aarav is in the United World College of South East Asia, one of the best schools in Singapore. Before joining this school last year, Aarav was in Oberoi International School, Goregaon, Mumbai. Just like his father, Aarav is into martial arts and has been training for the past nine years in kudo, a Japanese hybrid martial art form. In fact, Akshay shared that Aarav got his first degree black belt in it last year, with a picture on Instagram. In February last year, Aarav even got the opportunity to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Visakhapatnam coast, during the inauguration of the International Fleet Review 2016. Actor Rani Mukerji and her husband, filmmaker Aditya Chopra, were blessed with a baby daughter, Adira, on December 9, 2015. Although both parents are not comfortable talking much about Adira or sharing her pictures on social media, Rani did give people a glimpse of her daughter with an adorable message on her first birthday. In the note, Rani mentioned that she would let Adira follow her own dreams, and wouldn’t necessarily push her into joining the film industry. “I hope I can bring [up] Adira beautifully... Without any fears, brave, wise, clever, disciplined, well mannered. I want everyone to be proud of her. Even if nobody is... I will always be proud of her... Encourage her to follow her heart... Actor couple Ajay Devgn and Kajol had their first child, Nysa, in 2003. Seven years later, in 2010, their son Yug was born.
