Woman and 2 children die as roof collapses in West Delhi’s Uttam Nagar

A woman and her two children were killed when a portion of a roof collapsed in their flat in west Delhi’s Uttam Nagar early on Monday morning.

Twenty-six-year-old Manju, and her children Daksh (5) and Tannu (2) died in their first-floor apartment in Mohan Garden area.

Another family member identified as Sushil (28) was injured in the incident, and has been admitted to a hospital.

The Delhi fire service said the mishap occurred at around 2.40 am when the portion of the roof caved in, burying the occupants.

Other agencies, including the police, municipal corporation and local administration also carried out the rescue operation.

Congress leader Mukesh Sharma alleged that sewerage work of Delhi Jal Board in the area may have led to the incident, and demanded action against those responsible for it.
