The triangle-top bikini is without a doubt one of the most minimalist of two-piece swimwear designs, generally only covering the bare minimum of flesh. It’s also one of the sexiest styles to rock at the beach.
This season, it’s taking to the waves in a choice of pastel shades, as well as in bold candy-bright colours.
Plus, 2016 triangle designs can be seen finished in all kinds of prints, as well as with catwalk-inspired details like frills.
One great thing about the triangle bikini is that it’s suitable for all body types ... at first glance, at least. But don’t forget to think about comfort when choosing a model.
Seen on the left in the picture above, this padded drawstring triangle top comes with removable foam pads. It’s finished in a printed fabric and has lined cups. The straps tie around the back and neck. A matching pair of bottoms comes with string ties at the sides. (etam.com)
While this type of bikini may look great on larger-chested wearers, it isn’t a cut that offers a whole lot of support.
In fact, the weight of a heavy chest will be supported entirely by straps that tie behind the neck, which can prove uncomfortable after a while.
There’s something for everyone this summer when it comes to colours and patterns, with styles following the season’s major catwalk trends. Light, powdery pastels are popular for 2016, along with vivid shades.

Prints are big this season too, with lots of plant motifs, plus graphic, animal and ethnic prints.
Note that frills, fringing, shells and beads will also be coming to triangle bikinis for 2016, adding fun details to summer styles.
