So here it is, the first trailer for Christopher Nolan’s new film, Dunkirk. In a shift for the director, who’s made a name with his Batman films and science fiction epics Interstellar and Inception, it will be his first war drama.

The film hasn’t been in production for too long, and this is very much a teaser (in fact, Warner Bros has labelled it an ‘announcement trailer’). The one-minute clip is made up of only a few shots - mostly of a group of soldiers on a beach - and lots of reminders that Christopher Nolan is a legend.

Here’s the official synopsis released by Warner Bros.:

Dunkirk opens as hundreds of thousands of British and Allied troops are surrounded by enemy forces. Trapped on the beach with their backs to the sea they face an impossible situation as the enemy closes in.
