State and national level BJP leaders held a series of press conferences across Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday to mark the completion of Narendra Modi government’s first year in office.
Party’s national vice-president and state in-charge Vinay Sahasrabuddhe congratulated Modi on succeeding in restoring people’s confidence in the institution of government.
“The Centre took steps to bring back the abducted priest from Afghanistan, airlifted citizens from Yemen and helped the quake-affected people in Nepal,” he said. These are some of the steps the Centre took to restore the confidence of the people across the world, he said.
Talking to reporters in Jabalpur, Sahasrabuddhe said the NDA government did a good job by replacing the Planning Commission with the Niti Aayog.
“In last one year, the NDA government has taken certain baby steps to boost development in the country,” he said, while referring to the first anniversary of the NDA government at the Centre.
Agreeing that the work on bringing back black money from abroad was slow, he said: “To nip it in the bud, a stringent law is in the offing, which will not allow generation or stacking of black money…The government has set up a Special Investigation Team to bring back black money, which the UPA government delayed.”
He said that the party will soon fill up key posts of chief vigilance commissioner (CVC) and chief information commissioner (CIC).
Taking a dig at the UPA-led government, he said: “The UPA government experimented with the fuel price against the BJP policy of fixing price based on international rates.”
'Modi govt achieved more in 1 yr than what UPA govt achieved in 10 yrs'
State BJP president Nandkumar Singh Chauhan while addressing the media in Indore said that the Modi government has achieved more in 1 year than what the UPA government had done in 10 years.
He said that PM Modi had spent 56 days travelling 18 countries in the last 1 year which had benefited the country but Congress had made an issue out of it.
He added that schemes like the Atal pension scheme, addition of 10 kms of national highway every day and Make in India were the achievements of the government.
Chauhan also said the promise made by Modi to bring back black money to the country in 100 days was done when he was not the PM.
Quoting numbers from the World Bank report, Chauhan justified Modi’s slogan and agenda of ‘Achche Din’ but was caught on the spot when asked about PM’s recent statement of being ashamed to be born in India.
“The statement was sensationalised in a wrong way. The Congress has destroyed the country, it referred to that aspect,” he said.
