Stage is set for monsoon to strike the Madhya Pradesh capital fully on Sunday and Monday, according to the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) on Saturday.
Heavy rainfall is expected to cover the entire state from Monday for three to four days, Met officials further said.
Monsoon covered southern parts, including Indore, on June 14 while the rest of the state is awaiting more showers.
Pre-monsoon showers hit Bhopal on Saturday evening and light rains continued till late night.
Monsoon will strengthen further and cover the rest of the state on Sunday and Monday, RMC director Anupam Kashyapi confirmed.
Indore division may receive light to moderate rainfall
In next 24 hours, Indore division is likely to receive light to moderate rainfall, which will be accompanied by thunderstorm and lightning. "These rains will be sporadic and not widespread," meteorological department regional head Anupam Kashyapi said.
On Saturday, the day remained cloudy in Indore with the city receiving light to moderate rains. The total rainfall recorded till 5.30 pm was 118.6 mm (4.66 inches). Cool winds blew from west and north-west for most part of the day reaching up to a maximum speed of 35 km per hour.
