Not many gave 1921 a chance against Saif Ali Khan’s Kaalakaandi and Anurag Kashyap’s Mukkabaaz at the box office, but it seems 1921 is going to beat the other two hands down in the longer run. All three released on January 12, 2018.
1921 is directed by Vikram Bhatt.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh has tweeted the business figures of all the major releases. As per Adarsh, 1921 earned Rs 6.45 crore in first three days while Mukaabazz has garnered Rs 4.04 crore in the opening weekend. Kaalakaandi gathered Rs 3.85 crore.
1921 stars Karan Kundra and Zareen Khan in the lead roles. Directed by Vikran Bhatt, 1921 is the fourth film in the franchise.
On the other hand, Mukkabaaz is about a struggling boxer, played by Vineet Singh, who is up against a corrupt system.
Kaalakaandi was Saif Ali Khan’s return to quirky comedies, but it didn’t spread happiness for the makers at the ticket window. It also marked the directorial debut of Delhi Belly writer Akshat Verma.
Salman Khan’s Tiger Zinda Hai is still going strong at the box office. It has already become the biggest hit of Salman’s career. So far, it has earned Rs 325.71 crore in India itself. It has surpassed the lifetime business of Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Sultan, and is only behind Aamir Khan’s Dangal and PK in gross collection.
