“Totally sold on watching Gold. Wonderful, inspiring film. Thank you, Akshay Kumar,” Sehwag wrote on Twitter, alongside a picture of his family - wife Aarti and two sons - posing with the star. In the movie, Akshay plays manager Tapan Das, who led India to its first Olympic gold as an independent nation in a fictional 1948. The Sunday screening also saw legendary hockey player Balbir Singh in attendance.

Gold, directed by Reema Kagti, also marks TV actor Mouni Roy’s Bollywood debut and features Amit Sadh, Kunal Kapoor, Vineet Singh in supporting roles. The film will clash at the box office with John Abraham’s Satyameva Jayate.
