If all goes well, Chitrangda Singh will portray legendary singer Asha Bhosle in Soumik Sen’s upcoming film, RD. Apparently, Soumik and Eros International are working out the details to make a film based on the life of late Bollywood music composer, R D Burman.

Sources contend that Chitrangda is the chosen one because the director is impressed with her unique looks and acting talent. "Since Ashaji is a living legend, Soumik doesn’t want to take any chances with casting. They have talked about the film, but since Chitrangda is busy with Inkaar, there hasn’t been a second meeting yet," adds a source.

When contacted, Chitrangda confirms: "It’s in the initial stages. But yes, I had a conversation with the makers at a recent movie screening. I must say the idea is very interesting."

Chitrangda, who has been busy shooting for mentor Sudhir Mishra’s Inkaar, admits that she hasn’t had time to meet Soumik again. "I have been too busy with other commitments, so we haven’t had another meeting. But the idea that someone will make a film about these two legends (Burman and Bhosle) is so appealing," she adds.

Although filmmakers have been tightlipped about casting, Vinay Pathak has apparently been roped in to play Burman. The film is reportedly a fictional work based on the life of a music composer, following his ups and downs in the industry.

In the meantime, though Mishra refuses to confirm casting Chitrangda in his upcoming biggie, Mehrunnisa, the actor reveals, "Mehrunnisa is going to be an elaborate project. And it will need a lot of preparation not only for actors, but for the production crew as well," says the Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi (2005) actor.

Apparently, Mehrunnisa — to be produced by Mishra’s one-time associate Nikhil Advani — is a love story set in 1947 during the Indo-Pak partition. "Nikhil and Sudhir are super excited to work on the film. It’s going to take off sometime next year," says Chitrangda, who has Akshay Kumar-John Abraham starrer Desi Boyz coming up.

Akshay Kumar shows Chitrangda his moves

Akshay Kumar has turned choreographer in his upcoming film, Desi Boyz. The actor was recently teaching co-star Chitrangada Singh how to dance. Chitrangda plays one of the female leads in the film. Confirming the news, Chitrangada says, "He was trying to explain one particular step, which later looked good on screen." Desi Boyz marks the directorial debut of David Dhawan’s son Rohit. It also features actor John Abraham and actor Deepika Padukone.
