“I wanted to meet him (Amitabh Bachchan), so I went to the set of the (untitled) TV show that he is currently shooting. When I reached there, Anurag told me that he would like me to meet a fan. I didn’t understand what he meant initially, and then I saw him."

Everyone enjoys being applauded for their work. And even though Richa Chadda has been praised for her roles in films like Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye! (2008) and Gangs Of Wasseypur Part 1 and 2 (GOW; 2012) by many celebrities in the past, the feedback she recently received from a certain superstar left her truly spellbound. It was none other than Amitabh Bachchan, who left Richa speechless.

Richa, who regularly discusses her films with GOW director Anurag Kashyap, had missed meeting the director at the trial screening of her recent release, Fukrey. “I wanted to meet him, so I went to the set of the (untitled) TV show that he is currently shooting. When I reached there, Anurag told me that he would like me to meet a fan. I didn’t understand what he meant initially, and then I saw Mr Bachchan,” says Richa.

“He (Bachchan) was shooting and I was standing waiting for him to finish. After the shoot, he came over, held my hand and said ‘You are really talented and I am a big fan of yours’. He spoke very sweetly. I don’t think he realises his own stature. For me, it was enough to know that he knew my name and who I was. He’s so enigmatic and such a stately person. Watching him perform was out of this world,” says Richa.

During the brief conversation she had with Big B, he also praised her for her role in GOW. “Anurag was with us at the time, but he is used to being around Mr Bachchan. I was just star struck. It was a big deal,” says the actor.

Later that evening, the veteran actor posted an update on Twitter on saying, “And Anurag introduces me to visiting artist, on set, Richa Chaddha. She is a bundle of talent. An honor to meet her! (sic)”
