It has been the year of Priyanka Chopra. Just like the year before it. Priyanka Chopra, or should we say birthday girl Priyanka Chopra for the actor turns 36 today, has a way of making news. If she is not making red carpet appearances, she is in the news for finding love again with singer Nick Jonas and then there is her decision to write her memoirs. And then, there is Priyanka’s grand comeback to Bollywood. The Quantico star has already signed two films in Bollywood -- there is Salman Khan’s Bharat for which Priyanka is apparently getting a record payment and Shonali Bose’s The Sky Is Pink for which she is allegedly the first Bollywood actress to get profit-sharing deal.

On Priyanka’s birthday today, we found ourselves another reason to fuss over her. Going through her social media, interviews, videos and more, we realised how great the last year has been to her. Priyanka did great work as a UNICEF ambassador when she visited the Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh, toured through Assam to promote the tourism industry and stunned everyone at the royal wedding.

She was a part of yet another Hollywood movie, signed two new Bollywood projects and also announced her biography. Phew! That’s a lot to pack into a single year. So, we begin by saying Happy Birthday Priyanka Chopra and bring you a few highlights from her year:

Priyanka visited the Rohigya refugees

I’m in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh today for a field visit with UNICEF, to one of the largest refugee camps in the world. In the second half of 2017, the world saw horrific images of ethnic cleansing from the Rakhine State of Myanmar(Burma). This violence drove nearly 700,000 Rohingya across the border into Bangladesh - 60% are children! Many months later they are still highly vulnerable, living in overcrowded camps with no idea when or where they will ever belong...even worse, when they will get their next meal. AND...as they finally start to settle and feel a sense of safety, monsoon season looms...threatening to destroy all that they’ve built so far. This is an entire generation of children that have no future in sight. Through their smiles I could see the vacancy in their eyes. These children are at the forefront of this humanitarian crisis, and they desperately need our help. The world needs to care. We need to care. These kids are our future.
