After a legal fight between the co-producers, finally everyone has agreed on a release date for Parmanu-The Story Of Pokhran. After failing two release dates, the film will now hit the screens on May 25, 2018.
In the build-up to the film’s release, the makers have release the first teaser of the John Abraham-starrer and it seems like a thriller.
The one-minute video opens with India’s first prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru’s famous Tryst with Destiny speech. Boman Irani’s voiceover takes over from here and reminds us about some glorious moments of independent India. One of them falls in May, 1988, when India tested fusion bombs in Pokhran, Rajasthan.
Parmanu is about a team of officers who were given the responsibility of carrying out the covert operation without the world finding out about it. John Abraham is playing an army officer in the film who is heading a team of dedicated and brave officers.
Named Operation Shakti, the operation was carried out even as tremendous international pressure was exerted on India to not go forward with the tests. It’s an event that doesn’t get discussed much, but put India on the course to become a nuclear power.
The film, directed by Abhishek Sharma, also features Diana Penty in an important role. The film will clash with Harshvardhan Kapoor’s Bhavesh Joshi Superhero at the box office.
