Ranbir Kapoor takes us back to 1993 with new Sanju poster

In the new Sanju poster, Ranbir Kapoor is a spitting image of Sanjay Dutt when the Rocky star was arrested for the first time in 1993.

In a new Sanju poster shared by filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani, Ranbir Kapoor is an exact replica of Sanjay Dutt from the time when the Rocky star was arrested for the first time in 1993. The film is a biopic of Sanjay and Ranbir plays the titular role.

Sharing the latest poster, Hirani tweeted, “Sanju was first arrested in 1993. In prison for 18 months. Could not get bail. A recreation of that time. #RanbirKapoor #RajkumarHiraniFilms @VVCFilms @foxstarhindi.” Dutt was arrested from the Mumbai airport under TADA (Terrorist and Disruptive Activities Act) charges and was released on bail in October 1995. He was arrested again in December that year.

Anushka Sharma may essay the role of a lawyer in the film while Manisha Koirala and Paresh Rawal will play Sunil Dutt and Nargis Dutt respectively. The film also stars Vicky Kaushal, Dia Mirza, Karishma Tanna, Jim Sarbh and Boman Irani in pivotal roles. Sonam Kapoor may be essaying the role of Tina Munim in the film.

Promising fans that he will reveal new stills and posters from the biopic every day, the director had earlier tweeted, “Starting tomorrow, I’m going to put out posters and production stills of Ranbir as Sanju. A new one everyday. Hope you like it. #RanbirKapoor #RajkumarHiraniFilms @VVCFilms @foxstarhindi.”

Rajkumar has already shared posters that show Ranbir as Sanjay from the ‘90s, at the time he made his debut in Rocky, when the Vaastav star was in jail in 2013 and when Sanjay came out of the Pune jail in 2016. Check out the posters here:
