Richa Chadda speaks out about her new film: Everyone took paycuts
Talking about the challenges of making this film, the actor reveals that it took the team more than two years to complete it.
After Gangs Of Wasseypur (2012) — in which Richa Chadda played a pivotal role — featured in the Director’s Fortnight Category at the Cannes International Film Festival in 2012, another film starring the actor has made it to the prestigious festival this year. The Neeraj Ghaywan directorial has made it to the Un Certain Regards category of the event, which will commence on May 13.
“It is a big thing that our film has been selected among thousands of entries. I have attended the festival before, and I hope to go this year as well. But I haven’t got the exact dates till now. I will need time to work on my schedule, as I have other commitments as well,” says Richa.
Talking about the challenges of making this film, the actor reveals that it took the team more than two years to complete it. “A lot of people told Neeraj that the film isn’t commercial, but he was committed to the project,” says Richa, adding, “Neeraj and Varun (Grover; scriptwriter) were the two major forces behind the film.
Later, everyone joined in, and then it became like a movement. Everyone took pay cuts, travelled by train, etc, so that the film could be completed in a certain budget.
