Varun Dhawan’s Judwaa 2 becomes third film of 2017 to cross Rs 200 crore at box office

Released on September 29, director David Dhawan’s film is a reboot of his 1997 Salman Khan-starrer, Judwaa.

The action-comedy, backed by Fox Star Studios and Sajid Nadiadwala, minted Rs 2.65 crore on Saturday, taking its net box office collection to Rs 130.21 crore in India.

Varun has brought back to celluloid the iconic characters Prem and Raja played by Salman in Judwaa. Jacqueline and Taapsee slipped into the shoes of Karisma Kapoor and Rambha respectively.

According to makers, Judwaa 2 has become the third Bollywood film in 2017 to cross the Rs 200 crore mark worldwide after Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees and Akshay Kumar-starrer Toilet: Ek Prem Katha.
