A fast track court has sentenced a 35-year-old resident of Kajheri village in Sector 52 to rigorous imprisonment till remainder of natural life for raping his daughter while their mother was away in 2019. He will also have to pay a fine of ₹45,000.
The court observed that the present case is unique wherein the biological father is held guilty for brutalising his own daughter and making her pregnant.
“The convict by the way of his deplorable and heinous act has violated the ideology that find mention in our religious vedas i.e. Sarv Teerth Mayo Mata, Sarv Devo Mayo Pita, Matr Pitr Tatsam Sarveyan Pujayte. It is professed in our religious scriptures that the father is always to be revered and worshipped as he is representative of all gods. The convict through his deplorable act has not only committed the offence against his own daughter but also cast a blot on values, and ideology of our esteemed and traditional society and the act of convict calls for stringent punishment,” the court observed.

In September 2019 the victim’s mother had gone to her native village in Uttar Pradesh, leaving the victim with her siblings and father. She has three sisters and a brother. This is when he had raped her and he had threatened to kill her if she told anyone. She got fed up from these acts of her father and revealed the matter to her mother on January 16, 2020, who complained to the police.

{{/usCountry}}The man was arrested on the same day itself and a case was registered at the Sector 36 police station. He was convicted under Sections 376 (2)(f) ( whoever being a relative, guardian or teacher of, or a person in a position of trust or authority towards the woman, commits rape on such woman), 376 (2)(n) (whoever commits rape repeatedly on the same woman) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code.
He was sentenced to rigorous imprisonment for life (till remainder of natural life) and also told to pay a fine of ₹20,000 under Section 376 (2)(n) of the IPC, and the same sentence and fine for his offence under Section 376 (2)(f) of the IPC. For his sentence under Section 506 of the IPC, he was sentenced to two years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of ₹5,000.
