Chandigarh: Vig’s tenure ends, DUI Goyal takes charge as acting V-C

With vice-chancellor (V-C) Renu Vig’s tenure coming to an end on Tuesday, dean of university instruction professor Meenakshi Goyal took charge as the acting V-C of Panjab University.

The order was passed by Vice-President of India and varsity chancellor CP Radhakrishnan. Prof Goyal has been given the charge with effect from Tuesday forenoon until alternative arrangements are made or till further order.

Vig, who had become the first woman V-C of PU in 2023, had earlier received a four-month extension, effective from March 29, 2026. A search-cum-selection committee formed by the vice president has been working on finalising the next V-C.
