The accused have been identified as Gopal of Sector 19, Panchkula, and Shabnam of Buddhanpur.

Complainant Vimal Prakash, the owner of Vimal Jeweler, said the accused have been working with him for the last three years. Whenever he had to go out for work, he used to give the shop’s keys to Shabnam.

The complainant said that some time ago, he started noticing that jewellery items kept in the locker used to go missing.

On probing, he found that the closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras inside the shop used to be switched off for a few hours during the day. On scanning the available footage, he found out that Gopal had been switching off the cameras.

Vimal said that he was planning to open another shop so he used to keep the jewellery meant for that shop in the locker here.

A case under Sections 381 (theft by clerk or servant) and 120B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered at the Sector-14 police station. The accused are yet to be identified.
