J&K Police attach Chandigarh property in drug trafficking case
The case originated on January 14 this year when a police team of Bagh-e-Bahu apprehended Arun Singh, a resident of Rajeev Nagar, Narwal in Jammu, and allegedly recovered heroin from his possession.
Jammu and Kashmir Police have attached a property worth nearly ₹93 lakh in Chandigarh during an investigation into a narcotics trafficking case that initially began with the recovery of a small quantity of heroin, officials said.
The case originated on January 14 this year when a police team of Bagh-e-Bahu apprehended Arun Singh, a resident of Rajeev Nagar, Narwal in Jammu, and allegedly recovered heroin from his possession.
Following the recovery, a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act was registered at the Bagh-e-Bahu police station.
During sustained investigation, the police uncovered substantial financial transactions and money trails allegedly linked to narcotics trafficking activities, the officials said.
The probe subsequently led investigators to Chandigarh, where co-accused Rishi Singh, Arun’s brother, was found to have allegedly acquired a house using proceeds generated through illicit drug trade.
Acting on the findings of the financial investigation, a police team from the south zone attached the immovable property located in Sector 38-A, Chandigarh, on Friday.
The police said the attachment was carried out under relevant provisions of the NDPS Act pertaining to identification and attachment of illegally acquired properties derived from narcotics trafficking.
