Sweeping the competition across both categories, the Ludhiana Basketball Academy (LBA) clinched the overall titles in both the boys’ and girls’ sections as the three-day Punjab Youth State Basketball Championship concluded at Guru Nanak Stadium on Thursday.
In the concluding matches, the LBA girls delivered a dominant performance to defeat Kapurthala 64–18, while Mohali bested Ludhiana district 56–31. These results placed LBA at the top of the girls’ standings, followed by Mohali in second place and Kapurthala in third.
The boys’ section LBA secured the championship after defeating Patiala 82–80 in a closely fought final . In another closely fought match, Ludhiana district narrowly defeated Khanna 63–62, securing the final podium spot behind champions LBA and runners-up Patiala.
The tournament also served as a vital talent-scouting platform to select promising players for the upcoming coaching camp ahead of the Youth National Basketball Championship, scheduled to take place in Pune in the last week of October.
Retired IPS officer Gurpreet Singh Toor attended the concluding ceremony as the guest of honour, interacting with athletes and encouraging them to uphold rigorous discipline and dedication in their sporting careers. Prominent figures including Teja Singh Dhaliwal, JP Singh, Veerpal Singh Dhillon, Jaspreet Singh, Jaipal Singh, Narinder Pal, Sukhwinder Singh, Ravinder, and Saloni were also present.
