Police came into prompt action after Shivalik School in Mohali received a bomb threat through email on Friday. Police conducted extensive searches on the premises but later confirmed no suspicious objects in the area.
Police deployed bomb-disposal and dog squads to the targeted locations and carried out searches. The teams found no explosives or suspicious material, and officials later treated the threat as a hoax.
The incident was the fifth such episode involving schools in Mohali and nearby areas this year. In July, February 11, 16 private schools in Mohali city and 18 schools across the district received similar emails. Schools again received threats on February 17 and May 21, with police searches finding nothing suspicious.
Officials said the latest threat came amid the Punjab assembly session and the ‘Hamare Ram’ cultural programme in Mohali. The cybercrime team is investigating the source of the threatening emails. Police remain alert after the repeated incidents.
