Two minors booked for sexually assaulting 8-year-old in Ludhiana’s Haibowal area

The city police have registered a case against two teenagers for allegedly sexually assaulting an eight-year-old boy in the Haibowal area.
Preliminary inquiry has revealed that one of the accused lives in the same locality as the victim, while the other resides in a nearby colony. (HT File)
According to police officials, both accused are minors aged around 13 to 14 years. Given that the victim is also a minor, a case has been registered under Section 4 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act at Haibowal police station, and an investigation has been initiated.
Investigating officer constable Mandeep Singh said the incident came to light after the victim’s mother approached the police with a complaint. She stated that her son had been playing in the street but returned home in distress, complaining of severe pain in private parts. Upon being questioned, the child revealed that he had been sexually assaulted by the two boys.
Preliminary inquiry has revealed that one of the accused lives in the same locality as the victim, while the other resides in a nearby colony. Officials added that, since all those involved are minors, the matter is being handled with due sensitivity and in accordance with legal procedures.
No arrests had been made at the time of filing the report, and further investigation is underway.
