BJP alone can’t take credit for Shri Ram temple at Ayodhya:Togadia
Reacting to Togadia’s statement, BJP district unit president Sandeep Goyal said that everyone knows that BJP played a pivotal role in the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi movement.
Antarashtriya Hindu Parishad (AHP) founder and former Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader Dr Praveen Togadia has questioned the Bharatiya Janata Party and central government for “trying to take credit” for resolving the decades-old Shri Ram Janmabhoomi temple issue.
During his visit to Haridwar district on Sunday, Togadia while meeting AHP activists credited the construction of Lord Ram Temple at Ayodhya “majorly to the contribution of lakhs of Ram Bhakts (devotees)” and the “Supreme Court for the timely legal decision” in connection with Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Babri Masjid case.
“The whole Hindu community fought for Lord Ram Temple and participated in the Ram Janmabhoomi movement, particularly in the ‘80s and ‘90s. BJP can’t claim it being behind the solving of the legal case,” Togadia said while addressing the party workers at Kangdi village in Uttarakhand’s Shyampur.
“Eventually it was Supreme Court which took the matter on a high priority basis which led to hearing and constitutional bench decision. For political gains, the BJP is trying to take credit on behalf of millions of Lord Ram devotees who contributed to realising the dream of having a grand Lord Ram temple in Ayodhya,” he said.
Challenging the BJP, Togadia said, “If it is really serious about Hindu temples then it should not opt for more corridor projects by bringing legislation to pave for a grand temple in Kashi and Mathura”.
He also demanded “anti-love jihad legislation”, arguing that “Hindu girls are being targeted across the country”. ‘Love jihad’ is a term used by right-wing activists to describe marital relationships between Muslim men and Hindu women, though the courts and the Union government do not officially recognise the term.
Citing Antarashtriya Vishwa Hindu Parishad social works, Togadia said through a medical cell which has a helpline and has thousands of doctors linked to it, needy patients are being provided healthcare. He added that through an advocate forum free legal counselling and assistance is being provided to poor Hindu families involved in legal aspects.

“Saints, BJP, Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Lord Ram devotees wished, worked, contributed and prayed for the construction of Ram Temple. It is under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government that the temple is being constructed, Article 370 has been abolished and the country is emerging among leading nations in the economy, defence and strategic aspects,” said BJP district unit president Sandeep Goyal.
Meanwhile, Congress state vice-president Dhirendra Pratap pointed out that Togadia has “rightly exposed” the hidden agenda of BJP which is “politically trying to claim the construction of Lord Ram Temple which in fact was legally resolved by the apex court”.
