New Delhi: In a bid to develop the Capital into a “destination city”, the Delhi government on Tuesday launched four spiritual and heritage tourism circuits across the city.

The circuits was launched by chief minister Rekha Gupta during the Spiritual and Heritage Tourism Conclave-2026, held at Akshardham Temple. The conclave’s theme was “Delhi: The capital of spirituality” and it was also attended by Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev.

The four circuits, called “Soul of Delhi”, “Heritage of Delhi”, “Delhi’s Sacred Harmony” and “Echoes of Delhi”, are designed to offer visitors a combination of spirituality, heritage, architecture and culture, officials said, adding that these circuits would encourage tourists to spend more time in the Capital.

The Soul of Delhi circuit includes Gurudwara Bangla Sahib, Sacred Heart Cathedral, Agrasen Ki Baoli, Lotus Temple and Akshardham Temple. The Heritage of Delhi circuit covers Birla Temple, Jhandewalan Mata Mandir, Jantar Mantar, Yogmaya Mandir and Jagannath Temple.

Delhi’s Sacred Harmony circuit includes Praacheen Hanuman Mandir, Digambar Jain Lal Mandir, Ambedkar Memorial, Purana Qila and Hazrat Nizamuddin, while the Echoes of Delhi circuit features Gurudwara Rakab Ganj Sahib, Buddhist Temple, Church of Redemption, Mehrauli Archaeological Park, Chhatarpur Mandir and Linga Bhairavi Sannidhanam.

Gupta said Delhi’s identity extended beyond prominent monuments such as the Red Fort and Humayun’s Tomb. The capital was home to temples, gurdwaras, churches, mosques and Buddhist and Jain religious sites, while people from different parts of the country continued to preserve their cultures and traditions in the city, she added.

According to the government officials, longer tourist stays would create opportunities for hotels, restaurants, tour operators, local guides, artists, artisans and small businesses.

Gupta also highlighted the potential of spiritual tourism, stating that growing global interest in Indian spirituality, yoga, peace and inner balance presented an opportunity for Delhi.
