The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) on Thursday reviewed the city’s sanitation, monsoon preparedness and infrastructure development, officials said.

During a meeting chaired by mayor Raj Rani Malhotra, key issues such as door-to-door waste collection, a new sanitation tender, monsoon management, infrastructure issues, drainage improvements, and pond revival, officials said, adding that MCG commissioner Pradeep Dahiya, senior officials and councillors attended the meeting.

“Gurugram is a rapidly growing city, and civic infrastructure must continuously evolve to meet the needs of its residents. Better coordination between the municipal administration, elected representatives and citizens is essential for improving public services,” Malhotra said.

MCG officials said that the new door-to-door waste collection contract, currently in process, will deploy around 854 vehicles across the city. The new contract will ensure waste collection from households, transportation and delivery to processing plants.

Monsoon management measures undertaken by the civic body were also reviewed. Officials said that compared to the previous monsoon season, water receded faster in several parts of the city this year due to improvements in drainage infrastructure. They attributed the improvement to ongoing pond revival works and rainwater harvesting projects undertaken in the city in the past year.

MCG further said that an infrastructure mapping exercise is underway, under which sewerage lines, water supply networks, stormwater drains, roads, footpaths and other public assets are being digitally mapped. Officials said the database would help identify infrastructure gaps, improve planning and facilitate quicker resolution of civic issues.

“We are continuously working to improve sanitation, door-to-door waste collection, drainage systems, pond revival and rainwater harvesting. Technology-driven initiatives will help make municipal services smarter, more transparent and more efficient,” Dahiya said.
