A 55-year-old woman from Gujarat, separated from her family nearly nine years ago, was reunited with her son with the help of the Hazratganj police in Lucknow.
Hazratganj police found the woman identified as Ratan Ben wandering near Baloo Adda a few days ago in a distressed condition and brought her to the station. There, they gathered details and learned she was from Gujarat.
“When police talked to her, she uttered the word Phulpada,” said ACP Hazratganj Rajneesh Verma. “Police searched the name on Google Maps and found a locality by that name in Gujarat. The clue prompted us to contact Gujarat police which found a missing-person record dating back to 2017 and eventually traced her family to Surat,” he added.
Her son, Vishal Jayesh Bhai, was contacted and on Tuesday he spoke to his mother over a video call. On Wednesday, he travelled to Lucknow and was reunited with his mother.
Vishal told police that his mother suffered a severe emotional setback following the deaths of her husband, maternal uncle and grandmother. Her mental health subsequently deteriorated. She went missing in 2017, he added.
