Uttar Pradesh STF, anti-narcotics force seize drugs worth ₹1.45 cr; 3 arrested

The task forces arrested three alleged drug smugglers and seized narcotics worth an estimated 1.45 crore in two separate operations in Barabanki and Mirzapur.

The Uttar Pradesh STF and Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) arrested three alleged drug smugglers and seized narcotics worth an estimated 1.45 crore in two separate operations in Barabanki and Mirzapur, officials said on Friday.

In Barabanki, the STF arrested Vikas Kumar, a resident of Masodha in Ayodhya, and Sikandar Ali, of Rounahi in Ayodhya, and recovered 260 kg of ganja, valued at around 65 lakh.

The arrests were made on Thursday evening on the Haidergarh-Bachhrawan road near the China Mill canal police post.

In the second operation, the ANTF’s Ghazipur unit arrested Anil Kumar Sonkar, a resident of Rampur Taiti under Madihan police station in Mirzapur, and recovered 390 gm of heroin valued at around 80 lakh.

Sonkar was arrested on Thursday near the PCF warehouse in Bhorsar village under Kotwali Dehat police station in Mirzapur.
