MUMBAI: Three women allegedly duped a jeweller of ₹7.5 lakh by swapping gold jewellery with fake ones in Bandra last week.

The jeweller approached the police on Tuesday after finding out about the fake jewellery.
According to the complaint, the three women had gone to the shop at Waterfield Road on May 3, and claimed that they wanted to exchange their old jewellery with new.
When their jewellery was checked before the sale, it was found to be made of real gold.
However, when the shop owner gave the ornaments sold by the women to a worker on Monday, they were found to be fake. “The shop owner checked CCTV footage and found out that the women swapped the real jewellery for fake by distracting the attendant at the store. We have booked the trio for cheating and searching for them,” a police official said.
