24-yr-old newlywed jumps to death in Noida; husband arrested over dowry charges
The woman used to work at a call centre, while her husband is a video editor at a private firm in Noida.
A day after a 24-year-old woman jumped to her death from the 16th floor of a high-rise in Sector 110, Noida, her husband was arrested on charges of dowry death on Monday, police said on Tuesday.
The man, 28, is from Dehradun, Uttarakhand, while the woman belongs to Etah.

The incident took place around 5.30 pm on Sunday, and police were alerted by the security guard of the society. It seemed that her husband was unaware of the incident and, first, she was identified with the help of residents from the society.
“When we approached her flat, her husband, who was asleep, opened the flat. He was shocked to learn of the incident,” said an investigator, requesting anonymity.
After her family members in Etah were informed, they alleged the man had been demanding a dowry.

“We have registered a case of dowry death (sections 80(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita) and arrested him late Monday night. Further investigation is underway,” said Manisha Singh, additional deputy commissioner of police, Noida.
The man was arrested late night on Monday from his residence.
“According to the suspect's husband, the woman was suffering from depression and taking medicines. However, no papers related to doctor’s consultations have been produced yet. It was also revealed that there was a dispute between the couple,” the investigator, privy to the case, added.
According to preliminary investigation, the couple are from different faiths and were married on July 11 after being in a relationship for two years, said officials. The two also shifted to this home from another society in Noida last month.
