Noida authority is set to develop a “model route” in Sector 126, which will be a 450-metres-long road with footpath, green space, and central verge to offer convenience to commuters, authority officials said on Friday. A budget of ₹3 crore has been allocated for the project.

Noida’s Sector 126 is home to reputed institutions and schools.
The development work is being undertaken in compliance with directions by authority chief executive officer Krishna Karunesh.
“Under the project, a 450-metre-long and 30-metre-wide road in Sector 126 is being developed as a modern model route at a cost of around ₹3 crore. The aim of this project is to offer safe and smooth flow of traffic to the commuters, especially pedestrians. To ensure safety and ease to pedestrians and to motorists, we have directed the staff to work on development of model roads,” said SP Singh general manager of the Noida authority.
The authority said the provision has been made for construction of well-organised footpaths and drains on both sides of the “model road”.
“For beautification of footpaths, arrangements have been made to install granite stone and tactile tiles, which will provide an organised pathway for pedestrians,” said Singh.

“We have observed that the Noida Authority has developed footpaths at some spots but these spaces meant for pedestrians are encroached upon by vendors. We hope that once developed, these footpaths and other facilities under the model road project will remain available for pedestrians and will not be grabbed by squatters,” said Amit Chauhan, a social activist and resident of Sector 73.
