A video of a man purportedly spilling petrol on the ground at a fuel station in Noida’s Gautam Budh Nagar allegedly for making an Instagram reel created an outrage on social media platforms on Monday with netizens demanding legal action against him. The Noida Police said that they have taken cognisance of the 10-second viral video and an inquiry has been initiated.fffff
In the video, the elderly man, identified as Vikram Singh, was seen refilling fuel in a car on his own at a petrol pump. He did not keep the refilling pipe in the car’s fuel tank and spilled petrol on the ground. Subsequently, another man, who appeared to be a petrol pump staff, was seen wiping the car.
Social media users began sharing the clip to draw attention of the authorities and demanded action be taken against the persons involved. “Take strict action against this man so that no other repeats such nonsense”, wrote a social media user Bharti Malik, tagging Noida Police Uttar Pradesh director general of police (DGP).
Suhas Tripathi, another social media user commented, “Has he been booked yet?” “It was so risky as this could have resulted in a fire. Hope action will be taken against this person”, commented one Nitin, tagging UP Police.
Notably, Vikram Singh Yadav had posted a similar video on his Instagram account in June this year. In the video, he was spotted wasting fuel in a similar manner at a petrol pump. The previous video shows a fuel pump staff member trying to assist Yadav as he missed placing the pipe inside the car’s fuel tank, but the latter denied the help.
DCP Noida, Harish Chander took cognisance of the viral video and ordered Noida police to investigate the matter. The station house officer (SHO) of the 113 police station, Jitendra Singh said, “The man is identified to be a resident of Sector 115 Sorkha. However, the place where the incident took place is not under our police jurisdiction. We are investigating the case and trying to find out the culprit who is currently missing”.
