Ludhiana: Close shave for snatchers after getting hit by victim’s brother’s car

The snatchers have suffered injuries, while the brother of the woman also suffered injuries as his car hit an SUV parked on the roadside. Locals rushed all of them to a hospital and alerted the Ludhiana police

It was a close shave for snatchers after they got hit by the car of victim’s brother. The accused were trying to flee after snatching mobile phone of the woman when her brother hit their bike with his car.

The incident had occurred on January 8 night when the miscreants snatched the mobile phone from a woman on Char Khamba Road, Ludhiana, and tried to escape. Woman’s brother who was crossing from the area gave chase to the accused. He hit the bike with the car following which the accused lost control over the vehicle and crashed into a SUV parked on the roadside. (HT FILE PHOTO)

The accused have been identified as Rohit Arora, 19, and Tinku Bhagat, 21, of Dugri area.

The incident had occurred on January 8 night when the miscreants snatched the mobile phone from a woman on Char Khamba Road and tried to escape. Woman’s brother who was crossing from the area gave chase to the accused. He hit the bike with the car following which the accused lost control over the vehicle and crashed into a SUV parked on the roadside. The car also crashed into the SUV. The accused were stuck under the SUV.

Sub-inspector Gurshinder Kaur, station house officer at Model Town police station, said after the doctors declared the accused fit, they were arrested and a case was registered under Sections 379 B (snatching with hurt, wrongful restraint or fear of hurt) and 427 (mischief causing damage to the amount of fifty rupees) of the Indian Penal Code.
