: A woman was arrested on Sunday for allegedly pouring acid on her husband’s private parts during a dispute at her parents’ house on Saturday, Azamgarh police said.

Police said complainant Mukesh Pandey, a resident of Kohdaura village under Gambhirpur police station, alleged that his wife poured acid on him during a dispute at his in-laws’ house on September 26, causing serious injuries.
A case under section 124(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) was registered at Gambhirpur police station and an investigation was launched. Station officer Amit Kumar Tripathi said a police team arrested the woman from her home on Sunday following due legal procedure. The bottle allegedly used in the incident was also recovered based on information she provided.
The team comprised constable Durgesh Rai, recruit constable Saurabh Kumar and Recruit Female Constable Ragini Gaur, and was led by Tripathi. The injured man was admitted to hospital, where he received treatment. He is recovering, police said.
