60K citizens benefit from Mega Health Camp
Thousands of patients swarmed the camp to consult medical specialists from across the district during which patients suffering from health issues and needed treatment were examined and provided free medicines

Over 60K persons from the Pune district and nearby areas took benefit of the Mega multi-speciality and lifestyle diseases screening health camp hosted on Sunday by the State Government in collaboration with the Someshwar Foundation and Niramaya Foundation, Mumbai.
The Mega Health Camp at Agriculture ground in Shivaji Nagar was inaugurated by deputy chief minister of Maharashtra, Ajit Pawar in the presence of Guardian Minister of Pune, Chandrakant Patil, State Food and Civil Supplies Minister Chhagan Bhujbal, Rural Development Minister Girish Mahajan, MLA Prasad Lad, Siddharth Shirole, Sunny Nimhan, and director of medical education and researched, Dr Ajay Chandanwale and Expert doctors from the state were present.
During the occasion, DCM, Pawar, said, the Covid-19 pandemic has brought to our notice that healthcare is the most important. “The state government has taken important decisions to take care of citizens’ health. A provision of ₹210 crore has been made in supplementary demands for healthcare. We have started 700 Hindu Hruday Samrat Balasaheb Thackeray Aapla Davakhana in the state. Free treatment to citizens is provided through 2, 418 facilities of the Public Health Department. Cases of conjunctivitis are increasing in the state and citizens should take precautions,” he, said.
During the Health Camp, people were examined and screened by experts doctors of neurology, gynaecologist, ophthalmology, orthopaedics, ENT, cardiology, urology, chest, gastroenterology, obstetrics, dermatology, dental, general medicine and general surgery amongst others. Thousands of patients swarmed the camp to consult medical specialists from across the district during which patients suffering from health issues and needed treatment were examined and provided free medicines. This initiative will help those who have been neglected due to financial issues get the necessary medical attention they need, said the officials.
DCM, Devendra Fadnavis, during the occasion, said that true happiness is to see the smiling face of recovered patients and providing health care and putting a smile on the face of the poor patient is true service. “With the advancement in science and technology, the number of diseases has increased due to pollution, climate change, and changing lifestyles. Therefore, the cost of treatment has become a matter of concern for the public. The poorest of the poor want better education and health care for their families,” he, said.
Appreciating the work of doctors and organizers for serving selflessly in the health camp, Minister Fadnavis said, “The Government of Maharashtra has decided to provide free treatment up to 5 lakh under Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Jan Arogya Yojana. The number of hospitals empanelled under the scheme will also be increased. While doing this we come across many diseases that are not in the list but they need to be treated in time. Such health camps are useful to identify and treat those diseases,” he, said.
During the health camp for every specialty department separate rooms were prepared for the examination of various diseases. Arrangements were also made to give free medicine after examination. Free surgery will be arranged for needy patients if required after the examination.
