$5 million up for grabs in World Cup

The first World Cup in the Caribbean has a total of $5 million up for grabs as prize money for the 16 participating nations with a winners' cheque of $2.24 million for the team that wins the tournament.

The first World Cup in the Caribbean has a total of $5 million up for grabs as prize money for the 16 participating nations with a winners' cheque of $2.24 million for the team that wins the tournament.

The final will be held April 28 at Kensington Oval in Bridgetown. There is good news for the runners-up too with a purse of $1 million for second-place. Both the champions and runners-up will also receive gold and silver medallions respectively.

All man-of-the-match awardees, as well as the prestigious man-of-the-tournament winner, will be presented with exclusively designed crystal ware.

The team finishing fifth will receive $200,000, while the one finishing sixth will take home $150,000. The seventh place is worth $100,000 and the eighth position will earn $50,000. Winners of each of the 24 group matches will fetch $10,000 and the losing teams will get $5,000.
