Kuldeep picks five as the Australians are bundled out for 300. India posted 622-7 declared in the first innings. Rain played spoilsport in the first session and it will be interesting to see if the Indians do go ahead and enforce the follow-on. Kohli takes the ball from the umpire and hands it to Kuldeep. Hazlewood is the last man out, trapped plumb in front. The DRS show that the ball is hitting the top of the stump.

With the spinners into the attack, both Starc and Hazlewood are looking to have some fun here and using the long handle to good effect here. Kohli is not looking too impressed as the runs are flowing. The Indian spinners must strike quickly.

Kohli now gets Vihari into the attack. Clearly we are headed into a scenario where the Indians are toying with the idea of resting the fast bowlers so that they can come back fresh once the captain enforces the follow-on. Starc and Hazlewood looking to delay the inevitable.

Kohli is now using spinners from both ends and is that the sign that the India skipper is preserving the fast bowlers for the follow-on? Kuldeep Yadav gets Hazlewood to mishit the attempted sweep, but Vihari drops a sitter almost. There was a lot of time to settle down under the ball and grab that, but Vihari makes a mess of it. Kuldeep is clearly not impressed as this would have been his fifth wicket of the innings.

Kuldeep traps Lyon plumb as the ball hits the batsman full. He was trying the sweep here and the ball dips and hits the toe. Lyon has to walk back without troubling the scorers as the Indians are celebrating. Kohli even gets into an impromptu jig as the boys come together to celebrate the dismissal.

That was pitched just outside off and was coming in sharply, only to take the inside edge of Handscomb’s bat and goes onto the stumps. Bumrah is celebrating as the batsman walks back for 37. Australia are eight down and the question now is whether the Indians will enforce the follow-on?

Australia team morale

Marcus Harris said that the morale in the Australian dressing room is still high, despite the criticism they have faced off late for playing poorly in this series.

“It’s been good. I’m very thankful and I’m sure everyone is in the team that we’re part of the Australian cricket team. Yes, it’s been a tough series but we’ve also had some great phases. Obviously this Test match is not over yet. It’s been hard but it’s also been great, a great experience to play against India which is the number one side in the world,” added Harris.

Australia went to lunch at 122 for one but meekly surrendered soon afterwards, losing three wickets for 24 runs, with spinners Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav doing the damage.

Yadav ended with 3-71 and Jadeja 2-62.

While aggressive rookie opener Marcus Harris blazed a career-best 79, senior players Usman Khawaja, Shaun Marsh and skipper Tim Paine all failed to deliver when needed most.

Bad light stopped play on the third day of the fourth and final Test between India and Australia on Saturday.

Australia were struggling at 236 for six when poor visibility forced the umpires to stop the proceedings at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

When the players walked off the field, Peter Handscomb and Pat Cummins were batting on 28 and 25, respectively, as Australia trailed India’s first-innings total of 622 for seven declared by 386 runs.
