The menu is an all-round foodie’s dream. And the service is T20 style. At Shakib Al Hasan’s restaurant — called Shakib’s — it’s the cricket themed style that grabs attention.
Taking a leaf out of Indian cricketers such as Sachin Tedulkar, Sourav Ganguly and Zaheer Khan, Shakib’s is the former Bangladesh skipper’s attempt to create the first sports lounge in the city.
Memorabilia like Shakib’s KKR and Bangladesh shirts, stumps and balls collected from the IPL, the T20 World Cup and the 50-over World Cup adorn different corners of the eatery.
But the standout feature of the lounge is the way different cricket stadiums have been accurately embossed on the wooden walls.
One can spot Shere-e-Bangla, Lord’s, the SCG and Sabina Park, Eden Gardens and Wankhede. “All the interior work has been overseen by Shakib’s wife Umme Ahmed Shishir. But Shakib is also very hands on and drops in whenever he can,” said restaurant manager Wasim Khan.
Also carved out is a separate smoking lounge where a picture collage of the 2015 World Cup quarter-final between Bangladesh and India gets a special place, just beside a glass wall with cricket stencils.

Opened on April 10 this year, this lounge is yet to start full operations, as work on another floor is still in progress. Once done, it will cater to connoisseurs of authentic Indian, Thai and Arabian cuisine among the regular fast food seekers.
