So when Dhoni was asked what he felt about Kohli’s preference, he was cheeky. “I know it’s a very good question but let’s stick to the ODIs. We try to keep it simple.

"You don’t want everyone to do the same thing. Ultimately, it’s the individual’s character that’s more important.”

Dhoni can be sure, more such questions will be asked.

Ahead of the first ODI against Bangladesh on Thursday, Dhoni struck the same note he has been striking for years at press meets.

It is well known that Dhoni does not say anything controversial at pressers. It was on display again.

Asked again, Dhoni said, “That’s like 4-5 months back. Anything regarding the last couple of days I remember. Let’s not get into Bangladesh.”

So, what does he remember of that game? “It was a game of cricket.”
