The Marketing Committee of the BCCI has decided to award the World Sport Group (WSG) the sponsorship rights for all home Tests and one-day internationals from September 1, 2007 to March 2010.
The WSG will have exclusive rights on 55 Tests and ODIs in this period.
Divulging the details of the bid, Lalit Modi, the chairman of the BCCI’s Marketing Committee, said that the WSG’s bid was the highest at Rs 173.25 crore for the next 31 months.
“The WSG’s bid was greater than that of Percept D’Mark and Nimbus and was more than the reserve price, which was Rs 3 crore per match. The other bidder, Twenty-first Century Media (TCM), were disqualified as they had not submitted all the required documents,” Modi said.
Modi also said that the bids for all Twenty20 internationals to be held in India as well as for matches featuring India A and India juniors against international teams, and the rights of its domestic tournaments and branding of umpires’ clothing for all domestic ties, were being examined and negotiated.
Earlier, the sponsorship rights were Rs 1.10 crore per match, held jointly by Pepsi, Videocon and TVS.

The BCCI has decided to advertise for a foreign coach and approached the ICC and cricket boards of various countries to do the needful. The advertisement calls upon the interested candidates to send in their resumes by September 15.
Among the requirements, the coach should have played at least at the first-class level and have coached “an international or national team or an elite coaching centre”.
