“He will take minimum six weeks to recover from this injury. BCCI medical team will monitor his progress and rehabilitation programme and update accordingly,” a BCCI statement stated.

Pandya was picked in India’s Test squad for the first time after impressing the national selectors in the limited overs opportunities.

Earlier, KL Rahul was released from the squad after aggravating an injury which he picked in the second Test at Visakhapatnam. It was his comeback match after suffering a hamstring injury in September.
