IIT-Kanpur professor decodes reason behind Jasprit Bumrah’s success

With the ICC World Cup 2019 just around the corner, India’s hopes will be pinned on Jasprit Bumrah and IIT-Kanpur professor Sanjay Mittal believes that he has figured out the reason behind Bumrah’s success.

With the ICC World Cup 2019 just around the corner, India’s hopes will be pinned on the youngster once again and IIT-Kanpur professor Sanjay Mittal believes that he has figured out the reason behind Bumrah’s success.

In one of his study, Mittal explained how Bumrah’s speed, seam position and rotational speed of 1,000 RPM gives only 0.1 spin ratio for the ball hence putting it into reverse Magnus effect regime.

“A downward force on a ball by Bumrah causes it to dip sharply, which batsmen find difficult to pick,” Mittal was quoted as saying by the Indian Express.
