Jasprit Bumrah has found tremendous success in the last couple of years and with the top ODI ranking firmly under his belt, he has established himself as one of the best fast bowlers in recent times.
With the ICC World Cup 2019 just around the corner, India’s hopes will be pinned on the youngster once again and IIT-Kanpur professor Sanjay Mittal believes that he has figured out the reason behind Bumrah’s success.

In one of his study, Mittal explained how Bumrah’s speed, seam position and rotational speed of 1,000 RPM gives only 0.1 spin ratio for the ball hence putting it into reverse Magnus effect regime.
“A downward force on a ball by Bumrah causes it to dip sharply, which batsmen find difficult to pick,” Mittal was quoted as saying by the Indian Express.

Bumrah played a major role in guided Mumbai Indians to their fourth Indian Premier League (IPL) title this season and he finished the tournament with 19 wickets. India will start their World Cup campaign against South Africa on June 5. They will play warm-up matches on May 25 and 28 against New Zealand and Bangladesh respectively.
