With the ground in no condition for play to take place after five days of unrelenting downpour, Australia will leave Odisha happy, 2-1 ahead with two games to go. A win at Nagpur or Bangalore will help them win the series.

The Odisha Cricket Association had pinned its hopes on the sun coming out on Friday and had gone to the extent of pressing helicopters to dry the ground. However, such hopes were dashed by a cover of grey sky and continuous rain. Some called it the Australia team jinx.

This was the second time the kangaroos were supposed to play in the city. The last time too, their scheduled game was washed out.

There were gloomy faces in the OCA as it would mean a huge loss for it. If the match is abandoned without a ball being bowled, it will have to refund the ticket money, which would have fetched it an income of around Rs 2.5 crores.

The India team trained in the indoor facility in the afternoon. "I don't think it's (match) going to happen. If it does not rain, mentally we are prepared to play as many overs as possible," said Ravindra Jadeja.
