"In 1982, Dungarpur ensured participation of the entire Indian Cricket Squad, led by Sunil Gavaskar, at a banquet organised by IJA at the Connaught Rooms to celebrate 50 years of India in Test cricket," IJA President Ashis Ray said in a statement on Sunday.

"Raj also facilitated the presence of the celebrated playback singer, Lata Mangeshkar at various IJA events," he added.

Dungarpur, affectionately called 'Rajbhai' in the cricket fraternity, died in Mumbai yesterday after suffering from Alzheimer's disease. He was 73 and bachelor.

A medium pacer who opened the bowling, Dungarpur himself played first class cricket for Rajasthan and Central Zone in the Ranji Trophy and Duleep Trophy tournaments with considerable success, captaining both sides.
