With the India captain looking on bemused, he fell at his feet before pleading with the security personnel not to rough him up. He was escorted out.
Umpire Kumar Dharmasena initially came in front of Kohli, who was at the non-striker’s end, before the spectator went around the official to meet Kohli.
This is the third instance of spectators breaching the usually tight security and fencing at grounds staging IPL to reach players.
In two earlier incidents, a spectator reached to meet MS Dhoni at the Chennai Super Kings dugout while another approached Rajasthan Royals skipper Ajinkya Rahane during a match in Jaipur.
