First MS Dhoni, now Ajinkya Rahane. After a fan invaded the Chennai Super Kings player’s dug-out last Thursday, the Rajasthan Royals vs Kings XI Punjab clash at the Sawai Mansingh stadium on Tuesday also witnessed something similar. (MATCH REPORT)

The incident occurred in the 19th over of the Kings XI Punjab innings where they were chasing 159 against Rajasthan Royals. With 48 runs needed off 12 balls, Jofra Archer conceded just four runs in the first three balls. (HIGHLIGHTS) (SCORECARD)

Before the fourth ball was bowled, a fan jumped over the fencing at the deep extra cover boundary, ran on to the field and shook Rajasthan Royals skipper Ajinkya Rahane’s hand. Security personnel immediately rushed in and escorted the person out of the field.

The incident did not distract the teams and Rajasthan Royals won by 15 runs to keep their play-off hopes alive.

This is not the first time that a fan invasion has taken place during a game in this edition of the tournament. During the Chennai Super Kings’ vs Kolkata Knight Riders match, one fan breached the security at the Eden Gardens to run up to the former Indian cricket team captain and touched his feet. Dhoni advised the fan to remain in the permitted area and not invade the playing field.

In the last one year, Dhoni has been on the receiving end of fan invasions. During the Mohali ODI against Sri Lanka in 2017, one fan ran up to the former Indian skipper and touched his feet.

Earlier in the year, a fan ran on to the pitch and touched Dhoni’s feet during the India A versus England clash at the Brabourne stadium, a warm-up match in which Dhoni was the captain for the last time in an Indian jersey.
