Ten days after returning from a pilgrimage to Mount Kailash in Tibet, senior BJP leader and former Amritsar MP Navjot Singh Sidhu was hospitalised in New Delhi after being diagnosed with a clot in his leg.
Family sources told Hindustan Times that Sidhu complained of swelling in the legs and feet on his return from the arduous pilgrimage.
They said he was admitted to the Indraprastha Apollo Hospital on Monday afternoon after medical tests revealed the clot in a blood vessel of a leg. They quoted doctors as saying that Sidhu had been hospitalised due to the possibility of the clot moving to the vital organs.
“Mr Navjot Singh Sidhu was admitted to Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals Delhi today evening with acute deep vein thrombosis (DVT). This is a life threatening condition if not treated on time.
“Mr Sidhu has been put on blood thinners and has been recovering well. His condition is said to be stable as of now,” said a statement issued by Indraprastha Apollo Hospital authorities.
Sidhu took to Twitter to talk about his hospitalisation, describing his condition as Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT), which is the formation of a blood clot within a deep vein, predominantly in the legs. DVT is a common occurrence among people sitting for long periods on flights.
