Indian off spinner Harbhajan Singh has been signed up as brand ambassador by Neo Sports network for one year starting this October.
“We have signed up Harbhajan Singh as the brand ambassador for Neo Cricket and Neo Sports for one year starting this October. He will be part of our promotional activities,” the channels’ marketing head Abhishek Verma said on Tuesday.
The sports broadcaster also plans to use Harbhajan for connecting with the viewers through contests and for ground marketing activities, Verma said.
“But at the moment we are not thinking of using him to write blogs on our website,” he said.
Verma said the channel was performing well and was in an aggressive marketing mode that has helped in roping in three big sponsors till March, 2010, when their long-term deal with the Cricket Board comes to an end.
“We are into aggressive marketing and have already roped in three big sponsors, who cannot be named presently, for the cricket action that continues till March, 2010,” Verma said.
The ‘live´ cricket action starts with the seven-match ODI series against Australia in late October, continues with the home series against Sri Lanka and a tri-series in Bangladesh and ends with the full tour by South Africa to India, he added.
